Like an Air Bag for your electrical switchboard.

Bremca can offer both passive and active arc fault mitigation solutions that are designed to offer added peace of mind when it comes to protecting people, electrical switchgear assets and infrastructure.

Our engineered solutions can and have been applied to both Low and Medium voltage applications.

Active solutions

Active solutions reduce or eliminate equipment damage and improve operator safety. We utilise the latest technology to monitor, detect, and ultimately quench an arc fault before it unleashes the destructive energy that can damage the switchboard assembly and switchgear equipment, and protect personnel from serious injury.

The advancement in technology provides an evolving level of sophistication that detects and manages an arc fault across four critical steps:  Detection   –   Evaluation   –   Quenching   –   Disconnection

This not only reduces the damage incurred by an arc fault, but reduces downtime, and in most instances, allows a switchboard to be re-energised with minimal repair.

Passive solutions

Passive solutions protect by containing or preventing an arc fault event occurring.

Our tested and certified switchboard solutions are tested and certified to the latest standards that prescribe the containment of an arc flash ensuring the integrity of the switchboard structure and the protection of personnel.

Depending on your requirement, we can comply to both AS/NZS 61439 Annex ZD, and IEC TR 61641.

ARCON® 3G

The effects of a low voltage arc fault are like those of an explosion. An arc flash in a low voltage switchboard can be catastrophic in terms of safety of people, and to the ongoing continuity of your business.

ARCON® 3G is EATON’s third generation of their industry leading arc fault protection system, detecting and quenching an arc in less than 2-milli-seconds, providing unprecedent protection of both equipment and personnel, even with the switchboard covers and doors open.

ARCON® detects an emerging arc through optical sensing, analysing the intense light emitted against a spike in overcurrent in the distribution system, the control unit then evaluates the event before actioning a near instant command signal simultaneously to the patented quenching device and the main circuit breaker to operate – this neutralises both the arc fault energy and clears the short circuit fault current in the same sequence.

BREMCA provides a comprehensive arc flash risk assessment service, undertaking safety audits and completing arc fault analysis reports for clients on all types of low voltage assemblies. Once the risk is defined, BREMCA can tailor an arc fault mitigation solution to suit the application and complete a full installation ensuring a new level of operational safety.

An ARCON® active Internal Arc Mitigations System (IAMS) solution can be engineered in to both new and existing switchboard assemblies up to 690V, regardless of the original manufacturer.
